About Rekindle

Rekindle's Vision
Rekindle is a small media communication firm focused on amplifying community voices through printed materials.
I partner with Nations and community organizations to create newsletters that share local news, highlight culture, and support language revitalization.
My approach is grounded in relationship and respect. I collaborate with Elders, youth, educators, local programs, and leadership to ensure each publication reflects community priorities and lived experience. When possible, I design alongside Indigenous artists and incorporate community artwork and logos into each issue. Every newsletter is shaped through listening, care, and thoughtful communication.
I give full-service support from planning to print. This includes gathering stories, writing, editing, layout design, print coordination, and distribution. My design style is bold, using bright colours and large imagery to create engaging publications that are visually striking. I work closely with communities to turn local knowledge into a high quality printed product that people are proud to read and keep.
I aim to support communities in telling their own stories in print and on their own terms.

Language & Translation
This section shares words and phrases in the local Indigenous language to help keep it present in everyday life. I try to choose words that connect to the season or what’s happening in the community, so the language feels relevant and easy to relate to.
For the Iskut newsletter, I work with Angela Dennis, one of the few fully fluent Tahltan speakers, to ensure the translations are accurate and respectful. It’s a way to support language revitalization and help keep the language visible for younger generations.

Games Page
Our community newsletters have a culture-based games page for kids and adults, with word searches and puzzles games in their own Indigenous language.
These pages make reading the newsletter playful and interactive, giving youth a hands-on, fun experience like the games in big-city papers while staying rooted in local culture and community.
Career Opportunities
Each newsletter has a section highlighting local jobs that are hiring within the community so readers can easily see what opportunities are available close to home.

Artist Feature
We highlight local artists by sharing their stories and current work. It’s a simple way to celebrate the creativity already in the community and give artists a space to be seen and appreciated.
Celebrating Young Voices
One of my favourite parts of creating community newsletters is making space for youth to see their work in print. In Iskut, the students of Łuwechōn Kots’ede’i Kime chose the name “Classroom Connection” for their own column.
Krae went around to classrooms at the end of each day interviewing students and teachers, collecting stories and updates to share in the next issue.
When youths contribute, it becomes more than a newsletter, it becomes something families are proud to keep:
“We are proud parents of Krae — of course he would be the school journalist! I remember when he was in Grade 1, his teacher kindly asked me not to let him watch the news in the morning because he would raise his hand during class and say, ‘Excuse me, can I tell you something?’ He’d update everyone on world news!
So this role is so fitting for him. Not to mention, he also walks house to house delivering the Band newsletter.
Good job, son! ”
-Jodi, Parent & Community Member, Iskut

Digital Copy
As part of my newsletter services, I create a digital version for websites and archives, along with the printed copies.
The digital copy makes it easy to archive each issue online so it’s saved long term. Community members can look back on past stories, photos, and events anytime, even if they don't have a printed copy.
My newsletters published on the Iskut Band Council website.
Featured Voices
Community Voices & Organizations
I’ve worked with Indigenous artists, Elders, and community organizations to help bring local stories to print.
Every project begins with listening and building trust. When communication reflects real community voices, the results feel authentic.
